Structural Analysis

Linear-static FEA on the part you are designing

Compute how a part deforms and where it is stressed under load, directly on its solid bodies — no separate analysis document to keep in step. Cases, meshes, materials, restraints and loads live in the part; results go to a regenerable sidecar that is flagged out of date when the model changes.

The Structural Analysis workbench on a bolt-down steel padeye pulled at its eye with 100 kN: the part coloured by von Mises stress on its exaggerated deformed shape, with the results panel showing 196.9 MPa peak stress, a safety factor of 1.80 and 0.18 mm maximum displacement.

Why it matters

What stands out

Honest about its scope

Linear static analysis: small deflections, small strains, elastic material. The documentation says plainly that plasticity, contact, buckling and vibration are not covered.

Elements that bend correctly

Parabolic 10-node tetrahedra by default, with quality presets from Draft to Very fine; several meshes per case make a convergence check ordinary work.

Direct or iterative, CPU or GPU

Choose the solve method and the hardware independently; the iterative solver can run on a double-precision-capable GPU and falls back to the CPU with the same numbers.

Results with an error estimate

Von Mises, displacement, principal stress and an estimated mesh error, with max values, safety factor, DOF count and solve time.
